Application process

The VCU Department of Neurosurgery participates in the ERAS online application process. All applications and supplemental information for the neurosurgical residency must be submitted through this centralized service.

The deadline for submitting an application is Oct. 1. All applications submitted to the ERAS by this date, whether complete or pending information, will receive consideration for an interview.

Foreign medical graduates must have completed a three- to six-month clinical rotation at a U.S. or Canadian medical school facility to be eligible for residency at VCU. Additionally, foreign nationals must hold a J-1 Visa to participate in this program. For more information, review the VCU GME policy.

Surgical internship year

Individuals who match to this residency program are guaranteed a surgical internship position for the year prior to their residency. Applicants must register through ERAS and select VCU Surgery for their preliminary year to formalize their internship. For additional information about the surgical internship, visit the VCU Department of Surgery Web site.
